The Battle of the Bones

St.Anne’s Loreto Primary School, Navan, 3rd Class, 25th January 2016

Hello, my name is Bruno the Dog. My best friend is Joe the Cat. We met each other when I first moved in to 9 Candy Crescent.

One day I was digging in the garden when I found a whole pile of bones. They were gold bones!

But the dog next door stole them all. He and his friends had been up against the fence, listening to me and Joe talking about the bones. They got them by digging under the fence and stealing them all, passing them one by one to each other.

So now, me and my best friend Joe are going to get them all back, and here is where my story begins....

The first step in our plan was to get our dog friends out of the pound so we could attack the dog next door. This bad dog had a gang so we needed to team up and get extra help to get the bones back.

The only problem was that the dog next door had a lot more friends than I do so we needed to go around the estate to gather more dogs for our pack.

Joe the Cat was the one who came up with this idea. He said, “Bruno, I have an idea – while you and the other dogs are trying to get the bones I’m going to distract the mean dog next door.”

I agreed with this plan. “Good idea. Whoever gets the bones can have half of them.”

However, this plan didn’t go as we thought it would. There was a trap next door – as soon as Joe went under the gate next door, the mean dog and his gang pushed a bucket of water over him.

Since Joe hates water, he went off screaming like a kitten! I was left on my own to handle the situation.

“I’m not going to stand for this” I told my friends. “We’re going to march in there and do it proudly!”...
