The Life of a Helmet

​Scoil Chaitríona, Baggot Street, 3rd and 4th Class, 1st March 2017 

Helmie the Helmet was in a store room in a charity shop. It was very dark.

He was scared, but singing to himself made him feel better.

Some of the songs he liked were “Can’t Stop the Feeling” and “Happy.”

The only light he could see was a speck of light through the key hole. Suddenly someone opened the door.

John, who worked in the charity shop, came into the store room and switched on the light.

“Now, where’s that helmet?” he said to himself. 

“I’m over here!” said Helmie.

Helmie didn’t realise that helmets usually don’t talk.

He was surprised when John screamed and ran out of the room.

Helmie’s best friend, Pency the Pencil, started to roll over to talk to him, but fell off the shelf. His rubber broke off.

“Ouch!” screamed Pency.

Helmie hopped off the shelf to help Pency. 

“Pency! Pency! Are you okay?” Helmie said…
